Florida is First for SkillBridge
Transfer Your Skills to Florida’s Leading Industries with Full DOW Pay
The Department of War SkillBridge Program allows active-duty servicemembers within six months of separation or retirement to transfer their skills and gain work experience through internships, fellowships, and apprenticeships with potential employers. SkillBridge servicemembers maintain their DOW salary and benefits during training and can begin upon a commander’s approval.
The DOW has made changes to its popular program over the years, and the service branches each have different routes for servicemembers to take to receive SkillBridge approval. Our experienced team of veterans adapts and helps you navigate branch specific requirements into a successful SkillBridge experience.

Why Choose
Florida for SkillBridge?
Florida established the nation’s first statewide SkillBridge initiative. Understanding the importance of the skills you bring to employers and the overall workforce, the Legislature passed, and Governor DeSantis signed, the Florida SkillBridge Initiative into state law in 2021. Additionally, Florida’s economy is booming and consistently beats national averages and other large states with low unemployment and high economic growth, and Florida is ranked highest in developing its workforce.
Veterans Florida manages the initiative and provides transitioning servicemembers, who wish to stay or move to Florida, SkillBridge training opportunities at employers in high-salary, high-skilled, and high-demand industries. We want you to get a head start on your new career and ease your transition into civilian life more than any other state.
With years of experience and success placing separating servicemembers with employers in high-demand fields, Veterans Florida is your place to start.
